Where to Stay in San Diego | Hotel Del Coronado

Ok if you’re planning a stay in San Diego on a resort, I recommend staying at the Del in Coronado. Not only is the location absolutely beautiful, there is so much to do around the hotel area and around Coronado in general. This place is perfect for families wanting to do a getaway, needing a vacation, and wanting to relax for a few days.

We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights and it’s a pricey place to stay. To get the most out of the stay, I recommend spending as much time as possible on the property; it’s a huge property you definitely won’t discover in one day. We stayed in a suite facing the ocean view and just to get to our hotel room was a bit of a walk. We didn’t mind though because to get to the parking garage, we could either walk through the beach area or cut through the hotel and both views are equally nice. Not to mention all the history this hotel has and even signs of being haunted which thankfully we did not experience or I would’ve immediately caught the next flight back home. The view from the room alone was worth staying here. The good thing about the hotel is that you don’t have to be staying there to have access to the beach and restaurants, though you will have to pay for parking.

The restaurants around the area are also great and more upscale. We had a brunch buffet in Sheerwater and, again it was pricey but all worth it. There are so many options for the buffet including a oatmeal bar, a create-your-own waffle bar, a crepe bar, an omelette bar, seafood, fruit, muffins.. shall I keep going? Again, it is expensive but my husband and I are foodies (and now baby is too) so we all tried a little bit of everything. They had other restaurants too which we didn’t get to try and if you’re not wanting to eat some upscale, you can also try the Taco Shack which we personally didn’t get to eat but it always had long lines and great reviews. You can see more about Sheerwater and other food options here. If you like room service, it does not exist in this hotel and I think it was because the hotel was so huge and they didn’t have a restaurant they were directly partnered with.

Would we stay here again? Honestly probably not solely because of the pricing of the rooms but the best part is walking around the hotel and spending time at the beach is allowed with no additional fees so when we go back to San Diego next time, we will be spending the day in Coronado again!
